1. Your Welcome Letter

	1.1 Account Access Fun and learning with Creativity Express begins here! Once you place your order in our store you can expect your Welcome Letter within the day, often much sooner. We have real humans do the job of creating accounts to make sure everyone gets what they need, so be slightly patient. If you don't receive your Letter within that time frame, please contact us! Don't suffer quietly, we're here. The Welcome Letter contains your login information to the Teacher Account Center, and an overview of how to get started using Creativity Express.
	1.2 Key Code Setup If you are creating your account using our Key Code system, visit our activation page. Enter your code as directed. When prompted, enter your personal details. This type of account will auto-create with the number of children and length of time purchased. You can expect your Welcome Letter within minutes.
	1.3 Logging into the Teacher Account Center If entering as a Parent or Teacher, click on "Teacher Account Center" at the top right corner of the madcaplogic.com website. This loads the Teacher Account Center login page (shown). Enter the username and password provided on your Welcome Letter, or your current password. The 'forgot password' link may be used to re-set your password to one of your choice. You can also re-set your password in the account center. Logging in to the Teacher Account center brings up the services menu.

2. Using the Teacher Account Center

	2.1 Account Center Overview The Teacher Account Center features are specifically designed for those desiring in-depth learning of the content or are using Creativity Express as part of a comprehensive school / homeschool curriculum. But you don't have to use them...If you'd like to simply have your children learn and have fun on their own, you can do exactly that. Creativity Express is designed to self-guide children through the lessons. Parents can be as 'hands-off' or involved as they choose. Simply create a 'Student Account' for your child and log them in. Then walk away and wait for them to come running to tell you everything they learned. Note: Though it may seem an unnecessary step for parents to create their child's account, it's important. Though our content is absolutely squeaky-clean, children need to be online to use Creativity Express. The COPPA regulations regarding children and internet safety are quite strict, so we all need to follow the rules.
	2.2 Creating Students Click on the "Create a Student Account" in the services menu. An account setup page will appear listing several fields to be filled out by the parent or teacher. The student username must be at least SIX characters long. If an entered username is not available, a warning will appear beside the field. Next, enter the student's first and last name. The student's grade level may be chosen at this time. If classes have been created already, these choices will appear in the 'Assign to Class' dropdown, otherwise the student will be placed in the 'default' class. Both of these selections may be easily changed later. Student Welcome Letters with usernames and temporary passwords will be sent to the email provided. A copy may be sent to the teacher by marking the checkbox. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to create the account. Student Welcome Letters are immediately generated and emailed.
	2.3 Creating a Class Every account begins with a Default Class that cannot be deleted or renamed. Other Classes may be created at any time. Click on "Create a Class" in the services menu. Enter a class name, then from the list of student names click the check box for each student you wish to add to the class. When you are finished, select "Create Class." Your new class will now be listed under "See Your Classes."
	2.4 Transferring Students Between Classes The "Transfer Students Between Classes" link opens a menu displaying your active students and a dropdown list of your classes. Check the box(es) to choose student(s) and select the class you'd like them moved into. Click 'Transfer Students' to move the selected students to their newly assigned classes. Students may be transferred from class to class at any time.
	2.5 Viewing Your Classes Selecting 'View Your Classes opens a list of your classes and current students in each. Tool tip icons on the right display a set of functions when hovered over. The three choices for action are 'View Class Roster', 'View Class Scores' and 'Delete Class'. Every account begins with a Default Class that cannot be deleted or renamed. Deleting other classes will not delete the students in that class, but will transfer them back to the Default class.
	2.6 View Class Scores Selecting 'View Class Scores' from the 'See Your Classes' page shows the group Challenge Scores for that class. Clicking on a lesson will bring up a list of student scores for the class.
	2.7 Viewing Student Accounts Selecting 'View Class Roster' from the 'See Your Classes' page links to the list of students in that class. Information includes student names, usernames, date of account creation / last login and class name. Selecting 'View Student Details' for a specific student opens the 'Student 'Profile' page.
	2.8 Student Profile The Student Profile page contains an in-depth summary of each student and their progress through and use of the curriculum. Clicking on the left arrow opens the menu to reveal corresponding information. 'Student Information' allows editing of usernames, passwords, and grade level.'Time Logging' and 'Challenge Scores' reveal dates and time spent in the online program and number and score(s) of end-of lesson challenges, respectively. The Portfolio section displays the artwork uploaded by the student, the date and time the artwork was loaded, and the title. The Activity Responses section displays the student's written response to specific activities within the application. Clicking "View" will bring up the student's response. Clicking "Delete" removes the student's response. The Assessment Rubric aids educators and parents in assessing the depth of understanding any one child had gained from the Creativity Express; Rubric content will change between 'K-4' and '5-8' based on the student's entered grade level.
	2.9 The Assessment Rubric - Overview Though it seems counterintuitive to attempt to measure creativity at a time when most children face a burden of standardized tests, we hope that both educators and parents find this rubric a useful tool. Creativity Express was designed by artists and education professionals to encourage experimentation, analysis, self-expression, and ultimately teach children to find their individual artistic voice. This rubric was designed to encourage these behaviors and serve as a guideline for further exploration. The National K-4 Standards focus on conceptual comprehension over hands-on execution of artwork. In this age group there may be some quite talented children who simply lack the coordination or maturity to fully execute their ideas. Children progress at different rates during these early years; their achievement level on this rubric should reflect their relative capability at their given age or grade level, and effort put into the curriculum and projects. By grades 5-8, it is expected that the child is able to grasp the concepts rather easily. Their assessment is focused on the ability to analyze, discriminate, and make choices in execution of the projects to fully express these concepts in artwork.
	2.10 The Assessment Rubric - Content Each Lesson has Rubric questions based upon the content, assessments of Creativity Builder or other hands-on artwork, and lesson vocabulary. As shown, the Rubric questions are both lesson specific and open-ended. The objective is to create a dialogue with your student or child , not necessarily to find a 'right' answer. Rubric questions are tied to the National Standards as indicated (ex: 2b, 5a). Assessment values range from 'advanced' to 'inadequate'. Teachers and parents are able to enter assessment values and comments through the Account Center. Note: For School Accounts you must be logged in as the Teacher to enter assessment values and comments.
	2.11 The Assessment Rubric - Interactive Rubric assessments entered will appear on the interactive graph. Clicking each lesson will reveal specific details for that lesson,; teacher comments are easily viewed. The interactive view reveals valuable information on student progress, progress, and execution of ideas.
	2.12 Supplemental Materials Downloads of the Content Guides, Creativity Builders and Art Factory Lesson Plans, Rubric Files, and correlations with State and National Visual Arts Standards are available in the Teacher Account Center.

3. Specific Features for School Accounts

	3.1 School Account Services Logging into the Teacher Account Center with a 'School' username and password brings up an enhanced services menu over our traditional 'Home' accounts outlined above. Here, the School Admin creates Teachers who have their individual login information and Account Center services panel. There is no limit to the number of Teachers a school may have. Student accounts may be created by either the School or Teacher, traditionally or in a bulk CSV upload. Teachers then create and manage their classes, viewing only their assigned students. Note: A Whiteboard Account is simply a School Account with one student. Teachers have full access to the Teacher Account Center, but will need a Student login and password for the online content.
	3.2 Creating Teachers Click on the "Create a Teacher Account" in the services menu. An account setup page will appear listing several fields to be filled out. Next, enter the teacher's first and last name. Teacher Welcome Letters with usernames and temporary passwords will be sent to the email provided. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page to create the account. Teacher Welcome Letters are immediately generated and emailed.
	3.3 Teacher Services Teachers logging into the Account Center will find services for transferring students between teachers. For Districts with multiple schools, students may be transferred to other teachers in the District without data loss. Choose the "Transfer students to another teacher" link in the services menu. Select the student or students to be transferred by clicking on the checkbox next to their name. Select the teacher from the drop down menu. Click "Transfer Students" to finish. Note: You must be logged in as the Teacher who has the assigned Student(s) to be able to to transfer them to another Teacher.
	3.4 Creating Student Accounts Teachers logging into the Account Center will find services for transferring students between teachers. For Districts with multiple schools, students may be transferred to other teachers in the District without data loss. Choose the "Transfer students to another teacher" link in the services menu. Select the student or students to be transferred by clicking on the checkbox next to their name. Select the teacher from the drop down menu. Click "Transfer Students" to finish. Note: You must be logged in as the Teacher who has the assigned Student(s) to be able to to transfer them to another Teacher.
	3.5 Manage Notifications 'Manage Notifications' is a time-saving feature. Email notifications can be sent whenever a student logs in, uploads artwork, and/or edits the name or description of artwork. Notifications may be changed at any time.
	3.6 Keeping Parents Involved Online learning creates great opportunities to keep parents involved and on-track with their child's coursework. With Creativity Express parents can use their child's 'Student' username and password to access the Teacher Account Center. Parents can view (but not edit) their child's course progression, portfolio work, and challenge scores. Rubric assessments and teacher comments are easily accessible. Available for download are Lesson Plans, Educational Resource files, and Curriculum Standards.

4. Having Fun with Creativity Express Online

	4.1 Logging In Begin by clicking on "Student Login" at the top of the madcaplogic.com website. A login screen will appear. The user will enter their 'Student' username and password as found on their Welcome Letter and click on "Login." The Home Base menu page will appear. The 'forgot password' link may be used to re-set the "Student" password from the one on the Welcome Letter. The 'forgot username' link will re-send the username to the primary acccount email.
	4.2 The Home Base Home Base opens access to all 16 lessons contained within 4 themed modules. Though you can move around freely, we highly recommend beginning with Start With Art! and Color Smart before moving on to the Envision Art and Charting Art lessons. Both across the 4 modules and within each individual module the content of the lessons builds upon each other, progressing from simpler concepts to more advanced topics. Supplementary Content Guides may be found on our 'Information For Educators' page as well as within the Teacher Account Center. After selecting a module, it will be launched and open in a new browser tab.
	4.3 The Main Menu The four lessons in each module can be accessed from the Main Menu. Clicking on an individual lesson will open it. The recommended sequence is to begin at the top left, move right then down. For example, in Envision Art you would begin with 'Eyes", then "Movement", Emphasis" and finish with "Portraits. The first time a lesson opens it will release the sayART, seeART thinkART and doART sections in sequence.
	4.4 Challenges With each of the 16 lessons, once all of the activities in sayART and seeART sections have been completed children are prepared to move to the thinkART section This begins with the beginning with the "Challenge." Questions within the Challenges cover content from the lesson activities and may be taken as many times as desired.
	4.5 Puzzles In this section of thinkArt children have fun with puzzles with questions based upon the lesson content. They can choose a level of difficulty, but are presented with two images, finishing one is the correct answer. Puzzle pieces are easliy moved around with the cursor but may not be rotated. Right or wrong, the idea is to have fun with the puzzles as many times as they choose.
	4.6 Artist Cards The Artist Card page allows children to view cards showing some of the world's most famous artists. Each Artist Card shows an image of the artist and reveals a little bit about their life, personality, time period and the style of art in which they worked. Clicking on an Artist Card enlarges it for viewing and the card may be rotated to show artwork on the reverse. Clicking on the "Return Card" button returns it to the collection. Children can return to the lesson by clicking "I'm Finished."
	4.7 Gallery Clicking on the "Art Gallery" in the thinkArt section provides detailed information about the artworks the childres see and are discussed in the lessons. As well as giving detailed information about the Artwork included in the lessons, the Art Gallery is a helpful references for the Creativity Builders and Art Factory hands-on activities. The artwork displayed is for each individual lesson.
	4.8 Glossary Clicking on the "Glossary" link at the end of the thinkART section provides access to a comprehensive glossary containing art terms for easy reference. As with the Art Gallery and Artist Cards, the Glossary can be viewed from any lesson for easy reference. Clicking on any letter of the alphabet at the top will jump to that area of the glossary.
	4.9 My Portfolio After selecting "Portfolio," click on "Add new artwork." A finder window of the artwork choices available on your computer will appear. Select the artwork you wish to import and click the "Select" button. The artwork will appear in the portfolio. Artwork can then be titled and text comments can be added. After entering comments, children must click "Save" to see it in the portfolio. Artwork may be edited and re-saved at any time. To delete an image click "Delete". To exit the Portfolio area and return to the lesson content choose "I'm Finished".
	4.10 The Doodle Gizmo A fun and easy to use online dwawing tool, the dooddle gizmo allows children to quickly draw online. Whether it's for the Creativity Builders, Art Factory ideas or just for fun children can easily explore simple drawing tools. Who knows? Maybe they can create a masterpiece!
	4.11 Creativity Builders Creativity Builders are hands-on art and creativity projects using the principles covered in that particular lesson. Two per lesson, they are located under the doART heading in the lower left hand menu. Children may complete these activities on their own, or in a group setting. Comprehensive lesson plans based on the Creativity Builders are available both within the Student content and the Teacher Account Center. Projects can be completed with a digital paint program or traditional art materials.
	4.12 The Idea Gizmo Within each Creativity Builder, children may click on the "Idea Gizmo" at the bottom of the screen to get fun ideas and project templates for the activity. To access information from the Idea Gizmo, children should click on the two large handles. Some Creativity Builder activities come with supplemental materials. A "download design" icon will appear at the bottom of the Idea Gizmo if there are extra materials. Click on the icons to download these materials to your computer in pdf format.
	4.13 The Art Factory Fun for all ages, the Art Factory Lesson Plans include 'Group Activity Summaries' with detailed lesson overviews, 'Teacher Lesson Plans' that simplify hands-on learning and character-led 'On My Own Activities'. With many activities to choose from, the Art Factory provides a no-experience-necessary method for Parents and Educators to engage children in hands-on projects. The Art Factory Lesson Plans can be found in the doART section of each lesson as well as in the Teacher Account Center for download.
	4.14 Exiting Creativity Express Children should click the "Log Out" button in the upper right corner of the Creativity Express Home Page window to exit the program. For each individual Lesson Module simply closing the browser tab will Log Out the user.

Children's artwork can be entered into their digital portfolio by clicking on the "My Portfolio" link under the doART section of each lesson. Artwork may be in either Jpeg or PNG format, but must be under 2MB in size.

	Uploading and Editing Artwork After selecting "Portfolio," click on "Add new artwork." A finder window of the artwork choices available on your computer will appear. Select the artwork you wish to import and click the "Select" button. The artwork will appear in the portfolio. Once entered into the portfolio, artwork can be titled and text comments can be added. After entering comments, children must click "Save" to see it in the portfolio. Children may edit their work and then re-save at any time. To delete an image click "Delete". To exit the Portfolio area and return to the lesson content choose "I'm Finished".
	Viewing Teacher Comments Teacher comments are entered by them through the Teacher Account Center. When entered these will appear at the bottom of the artwork for the child's viewing and feedback.
	Viewing the Portfolio from the Teacher Account Center Parents may access the Teacher Account Center using the "Student" username and password combination. This will open a limited version of the account center containing a Portfolio' link. In this way parents of traditional or distance learning schools can view their child's work and Teacher Comments from any computer.
